Quick Answer
The best all-purpose Fish Pond is Sturgeon because it creates Caviar. Lava Eel is the strongest high-value pond, Blobfish is excellent if you can catch it, and utility ponds are worth keeping when their special drops solve a farm problem.

Main constraint
Pond quests and space
Start with purpose, not rarity
A Fish Pond is slow real estate. Before building one, decide whether it is for money, Caviar, rare products, or collection progress. Sturgeon is the cleanest first pond because Caviar has clear value and use. Lava Eel is better for money once your fishing and pond setup can support it.
| Fish | Why use it | Best timing |
|---|---|---|
| Sturgeon | Roe becomes Caviar | First serious pond |
| Lava Eel | High-value Roe and strong special drops | After Mines progress |
| Blobfish | Great pond products | After Night Market fishing |
| Super Cucumber | Useful special drops and solid value | Mid-game utility |
Caviar is stable, not explosive
Caviar is reliable because the Sturgeon pond gives you a simple processing loop: collect Roe, place it in a Preserves Jar, and wait. It will not beat a large Keg empire, but it works all year and does not depend on season calendars.
Utility ponds can be correct
Do not judge every pond only by gold. Some ponds are valuable because they produce hard-to-source items or support collection goals. The best farm often has one or two money ponds and one utility pond instead of only chasing the highest theoretical Roe value.
